Single Person Multi-Level Wads For Zdoom/GZdoom/Boom
The wads listed below were made for the Zdoom/GZdoom (or Boom) port. Unless otherwise noted they all work fine with Zdoom-2.2.0. Due to special Zdoom/Gzdoom specific features some may not work correctly with other ports. Note that if a text file says a wad needs the Boom port, a Boom compatible port, or a limit removing port there will not be any special Zdoom/Gzdoom features in that wad.
1024 (Congestion 1024) has 30 levels. The file is 3.6MB in size. The file name is 1024.zip. It needs a limit removing port. Works fine with Zdoom. This one is good.
1024-4: Final Mission has 7 levels. The file is 622KB in size. The file name is 1024-4.zip. Short simple maps. It took me 42 minutes to finish. Newest Prboom and any advanced sourceport which supports boom features will work. Works fine with Zdoom.
1024-4 Directors Cut has 16 levels. The file is 1.6MB in size. The file name is 1024dc.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port. It works fine with Zdoom. This one is ok nothing special. Some levels are quite hard. When I played it the first 3 levels were pretty easy. The start of level 4 I had a problem with because I finshed level 3 with only about 40% health. There is enough ammo to be found but not a lot of health boxs. A few levels were kind of stupid like level 7. I finished 7 with no problem but it was a rip of one of the original doom2 levels.
1024-4 Directors Cut Version 2 has 16 levels. The file is 1.7MB in size. The file name is 1024dcv2.zip. This is an updated version of 1024-4 Directors Cut. It has some different maps.
10 Sectors has 30 levels. The file is 3.3MB in size. The file name is 10sector.zip. It need a Boom compatible port. Works fine with Zdoom 2.2.0.
10 Sectors Part 2 has 30 levels. The file is 1.5MB in size. The file name is 10secto2.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port. Works fine with Zdoom 2.2.0.
32 Inch Nails has 7 levels. The file is 2.9MB in size. The file name is 32innails.zip. It needs a limit removing port like PR Boom-Plus or GZdoom. I played it with GZdoom1.1.06. This wad has lots of little ambushes and quite a bit of backtracking. Make sure you pick up the first shotgun you come across. I did not bother to backtrack to get it, not realizing my next chance for one would be the double barrel on level 3. It gets hard at times but not too hard.
Aeternum has 3 levels. The file is 4.8MB in size. The file name is aeternum.zip. It requires the Zdoom or GZdoom port. This one is hard! You will need to keep moving because if you stand still for too long you will die. If you want a challenge give it a shot. I made it through level 1 ok but had problems with level 2. I started over using a weapon wad and was able to finish it.
The Agony And The Ecstacy has 3 levels. The file is 1.0MB in size. The file name is agony.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port.
Annie Demo has 3 levels. The file is 343KB in size. The file name is anniedem.zip. Annie Demo was made for Boom but works fine using Zdoom. There is supposed to be a 12 level version out there but the only link to it that I found was broken. This is supposed to be a full megawad when finished. I hope so because it looks good so far.
Austerity Demo has 3 levels. The file is 5.6MB in size. The file name is aust_02.zip.
A Warm Place is a hub wad. The file is 7.9MB in size. The file name is awp_b33.zip.
Batman has 30 levels. The file is 5.5MB in size. The file name is batmanfull.zip. This is a true TC with everything changed. There is also a patch for using with Zdoom.
Bella has 10 levels. The file is 1.4MB in size. The file name is bella.zip. This one is good but gets very hard.
Bella2 has 35 levels. The file is 6.8MB in size. The file name is bella2.zip.
The BGPA Missions: Liberation has 5 levels. The file is 32.1MB in size. The file name is njbgpabh.zip. Note: This TC was made for Gzdoom-r13-win32. To make it work with a newer version you must add a patch to the command line like this: -file njbgpabh.pk3 zzfix. I have provided links to Gzdoom and Doom Nexus. On their home page go down to the post dated January 31, 2008. The patch link is in the post above it.
Bringer of Doom has 6 levels. The file is 3.1MB in size. The file name is bringerofdoom.zip.
The Biovite Project V4.0 has 4 levels. The file is 15.6MB in size. The file name is biovite4.zip. This is a very good wad.
Blood Pack has 30 levels. The file is 5.8MB in size. The file name is bloodpak.rar.
Canary Squadron has 6 levels. The file is 265KB in size. The file name is cansquad.zip.
Captain Mancubus has 6 levels. The file is 984KB in size. The file name is captain.zip.
Catharsis 2 has 7 levels. The file is 1.5MB in size. The file name is cthrsis2.zip. There were a few minor bugs when I played this game. It was made for GZdoom and I used Zdoom: The shotgun ammo did not show up on the status bar and one door would not open for me.
Caverns of Darkness has 10 levels. The file is 7.1MB in size. The file name is cc-cod.zip. It comes with it's own version of the Boom port but there's a patch for using the Zdoom port. This is a very good wad.
The Zdoom patch for Caverns of Darkness is 6.8KB in size. The file name is cod-zd.zip. It was made for Zdoom 2.0.96 but works fine using Zdoom 2.1.4. It did not work for me using Zdoom 2.2.0.
Chasm has 3 levels. The file is 549KB in size. The file name is chasm.zip.
Chosen has 10 levels. The file is 8.9MB in size. The file name is ch133.zip. This is an egyptian theme total conversion.
Claustrophobia: The Walls Close In has 3 levels. The file is 6.7MB in size. The file name is claust.zip. Ran fine with Zdoom v2.2.0. Note: click on claust.bat to play this wad. As the title implys this one has very tight areas for the most part. There is lots of Zdoom scripting, cut scenes, and Zdoom effects. There is even an in game story of sorts. The only place I really had a problem was the final boss fight. If you like quick action and don't mind close up fighting don't miss this one.
Cold as Hell is a hub wad with 16 levels. The file is 24.7MB in size. The file name is cah.zip. It needs the Zdoom Port. Note: This wad may not run correctly on older computers. I have a P III, 1.0GHz with 512MB of Ram. It loaded fine but ran too slow for me to play it. I am listing it because it looks like an interesting Zdoom wad.
Cold As Hell: Special Edition is an updated version of the Cold As Hell wad. It now requires the GZdoom port. GZdoom 1.1.06 is recomended. It has various bug fixes plus enhanced fire, smoke, 3d floors, dynamic lighting etc. It includes 2 BAT files, one for all effects if you have a fast computer. The second is for slower computers and disables some of the effects. Be sure to read the text docs. before playing. Just like the previous version it loaded fine but the frame rate was too low to be playable on my computer.
Community Chest has 30 levels. The file is 4.4MB in size. The file name is cchest.zip.
Community Chest 2 has 30 levels. The file is 8.5MB in size. The file name is cchest2.zip.
Community Chest 3 has 30 levels. The file is 12.3MB in size. The file name is cchest3.zip. It needs a boom compatible port like Zdoom 2.2.0. This is another great megawad from the Doom community.
Community is Falling 3 has 36 levels. The file is 45.5MB in size. The file name is cif3.zip. First of all this is a joke wad. It's based on friction between the Doomworld and Zdoom.org communities. There is a lot of scripting, Strife textures and features. The gameplay is acually decent. If you decide to try it make sure to read the text file first. You need to set up new keys to play it.
Daedalus: Alien Defence is a hub type game with 30 levels. The file is 19.0MB in size. The file name is daedalus.zip. This is a very complex game. If you like hub type games try this one out.
The Darkest Hour has 6 levels. The file is 4.2MB in size. The file name is darkhour.zip.
Dark 7 has 7 levels. The file is 5.5MB in size. The file name is dark7.zip. It's very good.
Dark 7 Mission Pack 1 has 7 levels. The file is 4.9MB in size. The name of the file is dark7mp1.zip. Also very good.
Dark 7 Mission Pack (The Special Edition) has 7 levels. The file is 6.4MB in size. The file name is also dark7mpk.zip. This is an updated version of Dark 7 Mission Pack 1.
Dark Castle has 3 levels. The file is 624KB in size. The name of the file is dark_c.zip.
Dark Resolution 2008 has 11 levels. The file is 3.1MB in size. The file name is dr2008v2.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port. It ran fine for me using Zdoom. This is another good community project from the guys at Doomworld. Note: this is an updated version.
Dawn a Prelude has 5 levels. The file is 1.2MB in size. The file name is darkpack.zip.
Death Revealed has 5 levels. The file is 442KB in size. The file name is deathrevealed.zip. This one goes from easy to hard with a lot of rockets.
Demon Eclipse Episode's 1 and 2 has 12 levels. The file is 20.5MB in size. The file name is de-pkg.zip. It needs the GZdoom port to work. Very good wad.
Demons of Problematique has 3 levels plus an intro and ending level. The file is 10.1MB in size. The file name is dop.zip. It was made for any Boom compatible port. It ran fine using Zdoom 2.2.0. This one is hard. Plan on getting killed quite often till you get the hang of it. Note: The zip file does not contain a wad file but a pk3 file. On the command line instead of ( -file dop.wad) you would enter ( -file dop.pk3).
Deus Vult has 4 smaller maps (levels 1-4) or 1 huge map (level5). The file is 6.1MB in size. The file name is dv.zip. It need a limit removing port. Works fine with Zdoom. Deus Vult is really just 1 huge map. The author also broke it up into 4 smaller maps to make it eaiser to find your way through the wad. You can play it both ways if you want. This wad is very hard at times. Level 1 was not too bad if you pay attention. It took me 33 minutes to finish. Level 2 is another story. I'll let you find out for your self.
Deus Vult 2 has 9 levels. The file is 75.7MB in size. The file name is DVII-1u.zip. This one is very good. It's worth the download. Note: It may not run smoothly on older computers. I had a problem in a few areas when the framerate was low and movements were jerky but playable.
The above Deus Vult 2 is the "u" or ultimate version. There is also an "i" version. The only difference is the music on some levels. I added a link for the "i" version below.
Diet 32in24 has 16 levels. The file is 3.2MB in size. The file name is 32in24-d.zip. It requires a limit removing port and ran fine using the Zdoom2.2.0 port. Diet 32in24 has small action packed levels with a good health and ammo to monster ratio.
Dissolution has 7 levels. The file is 6.4MB in size. The file name is distion.zip.
Doom 2: Evolved V1.2 has 3 levels. The file is 3.1MB in size. The file name is d2evlv12.zip. It requires the GZdoom 1.1.06 port. This wad contains modified versions of the first 3 levels of Doom 2. There is a lot more detail plus new lighting and scripting and some level design changes. It's good for fifteen minutes or so of monster killing fun.
Doom: A Megawad In Two Weeks has 16 levels. The file is 2.3MB in size. The file name is megaw2.zip. This is another Doom community project. Classic Doom style levels.
Doom Resurrection has 5 levels. The file is 1.8MB in size. The file name is doomres.zip.
DSV3-War has 30 levels. The file is 5.5MB in size. The file name is war_3.zip.
Eclipse has 18 levels. The file is 1.3MB in size. The file name is eclpseii.zip. This is a classic Doom/Doom2 style wad. It has good level design and gameplay. It is split up into 3 episodes with episode 1 reminding me of episode 1 of Doom. It brought back memories of how many times I had played the shareware version way back when.
Epic has 5 levels. The file is 3.2MB in size. The file name is epic.zip. It requires a Boom compatible port. It ran fine using Zdoom 2.2.0. This one has nice textures, good level layout, and very good gameplay.
Equinox has 13 levels. The file is 2.4MB in size. The file name is equinox.zip. Some levels get quite hard. You need to run,run,run!
Eternal Doom IV: Return From Oblivion Demo has 7 levels. The file is 15.4MB in size. The file name is ed4_rfo1.zip. This is a great wad from Team TNT. The first 3 levels are a hub that took me over 2 1/2 hours to finish. The levels are large and up to the usual Team TNT quality.
Evil Journey Plan A has 5 levels. The file is 5.0MB in size. The file name is eviljpa.zip. I liked this one. Good level design and good gameplay. On the first 4 levels I only had the pistol, shotgun and chainsaw. I did not get the super shotgun until the middle of level 5. It took me 38 minutes to finish.
Fear Reconstructed has 3 levels. The file is 659KB in size. The file name is mop_4.zip.
Hatomo Battles the Yomi Demons has 10 levels. The file is 1.5MB in size. The file name is yomi.zip.
Hell on Mars Demo has 3 levels. The file is 9.8MB in size. The file name is hommusic.rar.
Hellcore 2.0 has 12 levels. The file is 11.0MB in size. The file name is hc20.zip. This one is very good.
Hells Bells has 29 levels. The file is 7.2MB in size. The file name is helsbels.zip. It's for Zdoom.
Hell Wad Pack has 7 levels. The file is 785KB in size. The file name is hellpak.zip. This one is good but very hard.
Heretic TC has 30 levels. The file is 4.6MB in size. The file name is heretic.rar. This is a stand alone wad. All you need to run it is a Doom port. There is no text file so I used Zdoom and it works fine. Heretic TC used the levels from the first Herian wad with the weapons and monsters from the Heretic game. It came out nice.
Herian has 30 levels. The file is 3.3MB in size. The file name is herian.zip. This one gets quite hard at times.
Herian 2 has 30 levels. The file is 7.3MB in size. The file name is herian2.zip. This one also gets quite hard at times.
House of Pain 2 has 10 levels. The file is 872KB in size. The file name is b79hp2.zip.
Hybrid Fragments is a 3 level demo. It's supposed to be a full megawad when finished. The file is 1.2MB in size. The file name is hyfrag.zip. It need a Boom compatible port and ran fine with Zdoom. It's short but has good level design and gameplay and a really nice sword that replaced the chainsaw and chops the aliens right up.
Lost in Hell has 4 levels. The file is 281KB in size. The file name is lih.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port. Works fine with Zdoom.
Massmouth has 10 levels. The file is 4.3MB in size. The file name is massm.zip.
Murderous Intent has 7 levels. The file is 500KB in size. The name of the file is intent.zip.
A New Hellspawn has 2 levels. The file is 9.4MB in size. The file name is anhs.zip. This one is kind of hard and has some Strife like fearures.
Nightwing has 4 levels. The file is 523KB in size. The file name is nightwing.zip.
NJ Zdoom (enjay zdoom) has 30 levels. The file is 3.1MB in size. The file name is njzd0.zip.
Nokdoom has 3 levels. The file is 714KB in size. The file name is nokd4b.zip.
Paranoia has 5 levels. The file is 3.5MB in size. The file name is paranoin.zip.
Phobos has 4 levels. The file is 1.0MB in size. The file name is phobos2.zip. It was made for the Boom port but works fine with Zdoom.
Phoenix Rising has 5 levels. The file is 1.6MB in size. The file name is phoenix.zip.
Pleiades has 11 levels. The file is 3.6MB in size. The file name is pleiades.zip.
Project Slipgate has 11 levels. The file is 3.9MB in size. The file name is slipgate.zip.
The Prometheus Experiment has 7 levels (4 are playable). The file is 2.4MB in size. The file name is promex.zip.
Rage has 19 levels. The file is 567KB in size. The file name is rage.zip. Click on the link below and go to the bottom of the filefront page it takes you to.
Reanimated has 2 levels. The file is 439KB in size. The file name is reanmtd.zip. This one is short but good.
RTC-3057: Blue is a hub wad with 7 levels. The file is 52.7MB in size. The file name is 3057hub1.zip. If you like Zdoom hubs you will like this one. Note: it would not load with Zdoom versions 2.1.4, 2.1.7, or 2.2.0. It gave an error message: Tried to register 'Pistol' more than once. It ran fine using Zdoom version 2.0.61.1 (63a.cab). I included a download link to the page where you can get this version of Zdoom, and some other older versions.
Scimitar has 20 levels. The file is 1.9MB in size. The file name is scimitar.zip. It needs a Boom compatible port. It ran fine using Zdoom.
Simplicity has 21 levels. The file is 7.2MB in size. The file name is sp_simp.zip.
Securitron has 3 levels. The file is 1.2MB in size. The file name is secur.zip.
Southern Cross Gold Edition has 9 levels. The file is 2.0MB in size. The file name is scge.zip. This one is good but it gets kind of hard at times.
The Techwars has 20 levels. The file is 3.2MB in size. The file name is techwars.zip.
Temple of the Ancients has 5 levels. The file is 2.4MB in size. The file name is temple2.zip
Titan has 9 levels. The file is 4.5MB in size. The file name is titan.zip.
Trust has 7 levels. The file is 1.9MB in size. The file name is trust.zip.
Ultimate Doom 2 has 30 levels. The file is 2.5MB in size. The file name is Ultimate.zip. This is a classic Doom style wad with no Zdoom effects added to it.
Ultimate Simplicity has 30 levels (1 to 20 plus 10 extra levels). The file is 15.2MB in size. The file name is sp_usimp.zip. I thought it was very good. Note: It has a pk3 file, not a wad. It loads the same was though: ( -file sp_usimp.pk3 ).
The Ultimate Torment and Torture has 8 levels. The file is 65.0MB in size. The file name is tutnt.zip. It is made for GZdoom. This is a great wad. It has a very good ratio of weapons/ammo/health to monsters. Nice use of GZdoom features without going overboard. It will be even better for me the second time around since I will know the tricks that make it easier to kill, or get by the bosses. Note: I the text file does not say how to load this wad. I loaded all 3 pk3 files on the command like this: -file tutnt.pk3 lights.pk3 brightmaps.pk3 . It loaded fine. Also if you have an older computer like I do make sure to bind a key for weather effects. Level 1 ran ok but when I stated level 2 my frame rate was so low I could not play the game. When I disabled the weather effects the rate went right back up. Loading a saved game took about 30 seconds but that was the only real slowdown I had.
Vermillion has 3 levels. The file is 305KB in size. The file name is vermil.zip. This one has a lot of Zdoom scripting.
Xenus 2 has 10 levels. The file is 2.7MB in size. The file name is xenus2.zip. It was made for Boom but works fine with Zdoom. It gets hard at times but not too bad.
Zaero: Episode 1 has 3 levels. The file is 14.9MB in size. The file name is zaero.zip. It uses Quake 2 style textures and is very good.
ZBlooD TC has 20 levels. The file is 11MB in size. The file name is ZBludv33.zip. This one is a conversion of the game Blood into a Doom 2 TC. It was very well done.
Zen Dynamics has 7 levels. The file is 20.0MB in size. The file name is zendyn_x.zip. This is for you Zdoom fans. Lots of special features like manual/automatic weapon reloading, alt. fire, more weapons, etc. Be sure to read the text file and set up the new control keys. This one gets hard. Take your time, don't rush into things. Get used to the new weapons and the reloading times. It ran fine for me using Zdoom 2.2.0. Good luck!
Z Pack has 30 levels. The file is 35.0MB in size. The file name is zpack.zip. This is another very good Zdoom wad from the Zdoom community.
ZPortal (Zdoom Portal Gun) is not a shoot them up game. It's a puzzle/obstacle course instead. There are 4 levels in a hub. The file is 9.0MB in size and the file name is zportal.zip. As an example, you use a portal gun to shoot a portal to a platform on the other side of a pool of lava then place a portal near you. When you walk through the one near you it transports you to the orther portal. It's a very interesting idea and starts off easy. The problem I had with it is the obstacles get hard quickly. In some places you need to push a switch then shoot a portal past a moving pillar or opening door before it resets/closes. The portals can also be removed using a portal removal tool in your inventory. I think this would make a nice feature to incorporate into a normal Doom game. I am listing it here because of how far the author has been able to push the Doom engine. It is made for one of the latest versions of the GZdoom port. I used the R21 snapshot version and it worked fine.
GOOD SINGLE LEVEL ZDOOM WADS
While searching for some Doom 2 Wads I came across a site from Aluqah called Aluqahweb. He has 18 good single level Doom 2 Wads for the Zdoom port listed on his site. They have between 200 and 300 monsters on average with a good mix of health and ammo. Some of them look kind of strange but they all have good gameplay. A link to his site is below.
